Hello braliukai (again)
Is there a proper OSM definition of "stadions" in Latvia? Because in Lithuania, "stadionas" can (informally) mean any sports facility with a running track; regardless whether there's proper seating facilities or a clear boundary (which leads to leisure=stadium areas with a running track as the outline or multiple sport facilities being grouped as that instead of (likely) leisure=sports_centre)
The reason why I'm bringing this up is because there's a lot of leisure=stadium objects without a name in Latvia/Lithuania that are likely to have the incorrect tagging which should be cleaned up (also because a mapper responded to my concerns in a changeset that adds another leisure=stadium area with not a good answer)
Hello, I don't think there has ever been any formal discussion on this. In practice a lot of leisure=stadium are tagged on school "stadiums" by local mappers. I guess it's because "stadions" is how it's also referred to in Latvian (which is one of those things like "meadow" that leads to mistagging). I guess looking at it, it's incorrect. It should most likely be leisure=sports_centre in many cases. Pretty much always for schools. So I guess I agree with you. Looking at overpass, there is a lot to fix in Latvia too.
Generally, for schools these are even officially called "stadions" e.g. https://must.marupe.lv/turisma-objekts/marupes-valsts-gimnazijas-stadions/ despite there not being any significant visitor accomodation (although it definitely blurs the line in many case like this). So I can imagine most mappers never looked into it. I mean, neither have I, although I haven't been fixing any of these (yet).
