Currently Eurovelo E10 goes in Riga through centre (barona, brivibas) then between two baltezers lakes to Carnikava: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1741202
But https://en.eurovelo.com/ev13/latvia (which I assume is the source of truth for eurovelo routes) goes through Skanste, Brasa, Mezapark, Vecaki to Carnikava
Should it be updated?
And if so - any recommendations on how to proceed? Difference is large, and relations in iD seem to be a bit clanky
Yeah, I saw that too when I was looking at the new cycleways. Now it goes way north of Riga. I briefly looked at fixing it but then I realized just how much work it is to reroute something like that and I went screw it. Need a proper route editing application because otherwise it's just impossible. Even in josm or something, it just takes so much time.
I found this thing: https://osm-simple-route-editor.kyle.kiwi/
Seems like it's a better tool for this specific job (at least than anything else I know of), but still will be quite tedious.
I tried it some time ago, didn't really work for me. It felt like just as finicky as jut doing it in JOSM. I dunno, may be something wasn't working at the time. I'm literally coding my own route editor at the moment because I'm so fed up with nothing working. Relatify is permanently dead due to Overpass. And it doesn't support anything by transit routes.
Rough estimate is done: https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/188386468

i removed these leftovers
This doesn't connect https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1741202#map=18/57.086095/24.151680
I also wonder if the next revision is actually going to use the new cycleway and not go along the beach.

Yes, that app only allows to select existing segments, but not manipulate them. Some clean up is needed.
Also, route on eurovelo site doesn't make sense on Vecaki west part so there was some creative vision applied there.

Probably. But after being stuck in that f-ing sand where cycleway from Carnikava ends - I will not in good conscience lead anybody there until it's finished
I haven't biked through it yet but there are some reasonable forest paths to the side so they can probably connect somewhere. Although I imagine by the time the route is updated they will already have built the connection.
The sand is just there as a reminder to not get complacent about how good you have it on the asphalt. :smiling_face_with_tear:

That would require some surveying, but might be a good idea.
Sadly at this time I can't move so far by bike. Any volunteers? =)
I think I fixed rest of the disconnections/appendixes.
I'll definitely go there pretty soon. I just hadn't had the chance because I wasn't in Riga. It's one of the routes that I'll be taking fairly often in the future since I'm going to Ādaži a lot. Previously you could only go through the forest, but now there's the cycleway. Although the paths around that area have always been sparse. There's some random paths, some small ones I've not even mapped yet like https://www.mapillary.com/app/?focus=photo&pKey=830135713525781 .
Huh, when did Zulip start previewing Mapillary? I might be misremembering but I thought it couldn't generate a preview before.
Overall, wasn't as bad as I was afraid of.
But precision clicking on footways/cycleways is a pain. They are a pixel wide, it seems.
By the way, the way it's routed on their website, I don't think it actually goes along the beach, but rather along the paths through the forest.

Although I imagine it would be a right pain to actually map that becuase there are like 500 path segments there. I

That's almost exactly the path I took in July (until edge of novads, where I turned hard right towards water). Don't know if it's because of weather or something changed since your footage, but I struggled even to walk there.
It was one of the reasons why I said screw this when I realized that would have to route it along the actual proper paths. Even though I have Mapillaried pretty much all of them, it's still a major pain.

Maybe people started using it and it degraded quickly. I really can't say without visiting it. I'll try to check nearby paths if I don't forget when I visit. The whole area was pretty sandy, Like it's part of the whole dune structure or whatever it's called.

I have no idea what was the intention there. But in a lot of places there is no path like their line shows.
Since it copies EV13 on their site, I copied it too (were is made sense)
Oh yeah, my experience has been that these sorts of routes are very approximate in many places and require quite a lot of subjective and on-the-site verification to actually route them through appropriate ways. It's more like you're given an approximate route to travel and then you arrive at the spot, look around and decide for yourself. Which of course does not help OSM at all...
Especially in the cities, they are just routed through roads rather than on actual cycleways.
If they're working from something like Google Maps, then they won't have this sort of detail like OSM.

It's almost an unfair comparison
